I don’t consider myself the blogging type. Honestly, I just really like to write, and due to having pretty mindless jobs over the years, I’ve had a lot of time to think about stuff. I’ve kept a journal since I was about 12 years old, and it’s something I must do to unwind, process, and really deal with the challenging ideas each day presents. I’m a Christian, and I like to read, so I read a lot of Christian literature, which opens up even more mental cans of worms.
I also like to teach people stuff, but so much of the time people are too busy to come to my house and learn something, or too afraid to try something new, so I thought I’d make the info available to anyone at any time through that miracle of 1′s and 0′s that is the “interwebs” (as my friend says). I personally have really started to use the internet as a resource of late, and am amazed and excited by what I find. Everything from recipes to patterns to plant care and even foraging for food in the woods. It’s all available. I am adding my little bit to encourage you to try something new just for the adventure of it, whether it be new growing, sewing, praying, or thinking.
Most recently I am trying to deal with the challenging ideas presented in Kyle Idleman’s book “Not a Fan: Becoming a Completely Committed Follower of Jesus”. A book that really asked me to dig deep and assess where my heart is- am I just a fan of Jesus, or am I out on the field taking hits for him as a follower? I can’t dive into it right now, but I highly recommend the book for anyone who is a Christian or is simply curious about what it might mean to be one. Beware though. While it is an easy read and very funny, it will kick you in the pants. Repeatedly.
The upshot is that there are always new challenges in my life as a result of my ever-changing mindset, and I like to get that stuff out in the open so that I can move in a good direction. If I don’t write, I get feeling mentally clogged.
So, whether you like it or not, I am going to tell you about my life as I see and experience it. I am now a blogger.
